Keep cozy with the magnificent beauty of the Aurora Borealis. Étienne Léopold Trouvelot (1827–1895) was a French artist who studied the night skies using telescopes at the Harvard Observatory, the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, and the University of Virginia. He transformed his observations into awe-inspiring works of art at a time when photography couldn’t capture the majesty of the cosmos.
Fifteen of his large pastels, including “Aurora Borealis,” were published by Charles Scribner’s Sons as The Trouvelot astronomical drawings: Atlas. The New York Public Library’s Rare Book Division holds one of these remarkable publications, and images from this work can be viewed through our digital collections.
This puffy blanket works great indoors or out, and it conveniently packs into its included matching drawstring bag. Made from sustainably produced ripstop nylon fabric. Machine wash on delicate and line dry.
