A landmark of Beaux-Arts architecture, the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building has been the New York Public Library’s home since its dedication in 1911. Designed by architects John Merven Carrère and Thomas Hastings, it houses outstanding research collections in the humanities and social sciences, standing for more than a century as an emblem of access to knowledge for all.
