Rainy day in the city? Stay dry and show your support for NYPL and its dedication to lifelong learning with this striking black umbrella. Featuring elegant lettering and the Library's founding year, it's a great way to celebrate a New York institution that has championed access to knowledge for all for more than 125 years. The compact design has an automatic open/close push-button and sure-grip rubberized handle for ease of use, as well as an upgraded waterproof cover material, a strong steel windproof frame, and a generous 42-inch arc. Fabric sleeve included.

Established in 1895, the New York Public Library was created by bringing together the resources of the Astor and Lenox libraries and the Tilden Trust. One-time governor Samuel J. Tilden (1814-1886) had bequeathed the bulk of his fortune to "establish and maintain a free library and reading room in the city of New York."
