Adapted from an unpublished drawing by Edward Gorey from the 1980's which was part of a long series of renderings of cats. A truly unique figure in American art and illustration, Edward Gorey's carefully executed drawings depict a mythical world in a style that is instantly recognizable.

Here a cat reclines in contentment atop a pile of leather bound books. Engraved on the back: 'Books. Cats. Life is sweet.' (a philosophy close to Gorey's heart) along with his signature.
