More sumptuous than the finest floral arrangement, the Van Huysum design is based on a painting by Jan van Huysum (1682–1749) that seems to burst off the page. Van Huysum is perhaps the greatest master of that most revered subject in the Dutch artistic canon: the flower. Flower arranging as a formal art form was first perfected by the Dutch, and once it became au courant, paintings of these elaborate arrangements followed, and the still-life was born.
Van Huysum’s Still Life with Flowers and Fruit is a magnificent display of the form. Completed around 1715, this masterful oil on panel has been admired for centuries for its tightly packed blooms and abundant fruits and vegetation. A seduction of the eye, this “still life” is anything but static. Vibrant colors and details entice you to look closer.
Features:
• Within the pencil case is a smaller, removable box that can be used to store everything from paper clips and fountain pen nibs to earrings and other baubles.
• These eye-catching boxes are designed with a lid flap that folds around to create an open presentation case, displaying the treasures within.
• The wrap-around lid connects to hidden magnets embedded in the case, keeping your belongings secure during travel. The well-crafted case is sturdy and holds its shape.
