Mark your place with a bookmark celebrating Charles Dickens, a great Victorian novelist, and Bob, his great cat.
Charles Dickens's cat, Bob, was so devoted to him, he apparently would "follow him about the garden like a dog, and sit with him while he wrote" and even snuff out candles with his paw in a bid for attention from Dickens. After Bob died, his paw was fashioned into a paper-knife, engraved "C.D./In memory of Bob/1862." and it is now part of the Polonsky Exhibition of The New York Public Library's Treasures.
Our reproduction is fashioned out of layers of heavy cardstock and printed on a letterpress. A unique gift for cat and book lovers, this curio commemorates the special bond between humans and their feline companions.
