The Equinoxe journal collection, featuring a tendril motif, reproduces a 1688 binding from the Dusseldorf Museum Kunstpalast. The journal is adorned "a la fanfare," an elaborate, handtooled pattern edged in gilt.
The original leather and gold cover that inspired our Carmine journal was likely meant to become a part of French clergyman Michel de Marolles’ famed collection of engravings and prints. However, de Marolles died before this binding of L’Office de la Semaine Sainte was completed.
