Use a pencil that pays homage to an incredible creative legacy. Legendary Grammy, Emmy, Pulitzer, and Academy Award winners have created with the Blackwing 602 pencil, introduced in the 1930s by Eberhard Faber. Over the years, the pencil with the distinctive rectangular eraser and smooth graphite became synonymous with quality. The list of users includes John Steinbeck, Leonard Bernstein, and Chuck Jones. In 1998 the Blackwing 602 was discontinued, but not forgotten, with fans paying up to $40 on eBay for a single pencil.
Artists noticed that Palomino’s premium pencils compared favorably to the Blackwing 602 and began asking Palomino to consider reviving the Blackwing brand. Palomino founder Charles Berolzheimer, whose family’s roots in the pencil industry date back to the mid 19th century, used the company’s unique supply relationships to launch Palomino Blackwing pencils in 2010, featuring California Genuine Incense-cedar and premium Japanese graphite.
The Blackwing Piano Box features three each of the classic Blackwing Matte, #602, Pearl, and Natural pencils, inside of a black piano-inspired box. When you're looking for the perfect pencil to write a song, sketch a landscape, or brainstorm a business idea, grab a Blackwing.
