This chair was designed by Thomas Moser in collaboration with The New York Public Library. It is more than just a piece of furniture for our patrons—it is a symbol of the Library, its mission, and its vision for decades to come. The Branch Chair is made of maple with a hand-rubbed finish. Our miniature is cast metal with a hand-painted wood finish.
As of June 1, 2021, the Library has expanded access at the all-new Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL), following a full-scale renovation that transformed NYPL’s largest circulating branch into the library that New Yorkers need and deserve.
Visitors are now welcome to come for limited browsing and by-appointment computer use from the lower level through the fourth floor. The fifth floor is currently open for research appointments only, and the sixth and seventh floors will remain closed—but the Library is working toward opening these spaces as soon as circumstances allow.
