Get It Together! The Shop’s 5 Picks for Organizing Your Fall
The kids are back in school, the leaves are about to change, and hopefully you’ve gotten some sun and wrapped up your summer reading list. Time to get your life back together after a fantastic summer! The Library Shop has everything you need to get organized for back-to-school, back-to-work, and back-to-life.
1. Help scheduling your time—on time
Do you know when National Squirrel Appreciation Day is? Thanks to this agenda, you’ll never miss another important holiday or appointment. Its colorful, busy pages will keep your life coordinated and bright at the same time! And if you’re not a morning person, cheer up the start of your day with a retro alarm clock that looks straight out of Mad Men. It comes in red and green, too!
2. A timeless guide and the writing tool of the future
Whether you’re a writer by trade or compose anything for work (hello, email!), everyone should keep a copy of Elements of Style on hand. This edition, gorgeously illustrated by Maira Kalman, is not only endlessly useful but entertaining as well. When you put pen to paper, you can literally do it anywhere with this NYPL-branded Fisher Space pen. The compact, sleek design is stylish, and you can write with it practically anywhere: in zero gravity, in extreme temperatures, or even on butter!
3. Clean up your desk! But first, coffee
We all need a pumpkin spice latte once in awhile, but if you’re on a budget this fall, making coffee at home is a great place to start. Enter the S’Well bottle! It keeps coffee hot for up to 12 hours and doubles as a snazzy desk accessory. And if your desk needs a little help, LabWork is here to save the day. This set looks like a chemistry experiment, but it hold binder clips, paper clips, and thumb tacks to get you decorated and coordinated at the same time.
4. A zip-up pack and a classic accessory
It’s time for fall style! Tote all of your belongings with ease in this many-pocketed backpack from Mat & Nat. It has a place for your smartphone and other essentials, and can even fit a 13" laptop. Accessorize it with this cozy scarf from Out of Print, which is decorated with the cover of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Its lightweight, cotton and silk blend is perfect for the coming autumn days!
5. A bookmark and a book tracker
This bookmark is #goals. Fifty goals, to be exact: it lists classic literary works that are universally deemed worth a read (or a re-read). And if you’re to-be-read list is getting out of control (no judgement!) there’s a solution! This Books To Check Out journal will set you straight, and also provide a place to track what you’ve read, along with your favorites passages, quotes, and pages numbers.
